Birdwatching is becoming popular in Taiwan in recent decades. To promote the development of birdwatching, leisure constraints were used to realize birdwatchers’s leisure benefits in birdwatching. This can provide useful reference for habitat management authority to promot birdwatching activities.
This study was designed to reveal what is the birdwatchers’s perception of leisure constraints, leisure involvement and leisure benefits. Further more, the relationships among leisure constraints, leisure involvement and leisure benefits of birdwatchers were examined.
Guandu nature park was chosen to conduct this study. Results from this study exhibit that leisure constraints had negative effect on leisure involvement, while leisure involvement had positive effect on leisure benefits, and leisure constraints had negative effect on leisure benefits. The conclusion from this study will help site managers to propose schemes to encourage birdwatchers’s leisure involvement, to reduce their leisure constraints,and to increase their leisure benefits.
