This study aims to understand the current state of the cognitive awareness of the importance of marriage customs and cognitive awareness of the demand for marriage customs among people in Taipei, as well as the relationship between different personal background factors and their cognitive awareness of the importance of marriage customs and cognitive awareness of the demand for marriage customs. Additionally, it explores the correlation between the cognitive awareness of the importance of marriage customs and cognitive awareness of the demand for marriage customs among people in Taipei. Furthermore, it investigates the predictive power of the cognitive awareness of the importance of marriage customs and cognitive awareness of the demand for marriage customs.
The study adopted a proportional sampling method and snowball sampling to select residents aged 18 and above in the Taipei area as research subjects. The formal sample consisted of 480 questionnaires, and after excluding invalid ones, the effective sample size was 454, yielding an effective response rate of 94.58%. The research instruments used included a “personal background information form” and a “cognitive awareness of the importance and demand scale for marriage customs”. The data were analyzed using SPSS for Windows 26.0, employing statistical methods such as descriptive statistics, independent sample t-tests, one-way ANOVA, Pearson's product-moment correlation, and multiple regression analysis. The purpose of this study was to investigate the cognitive awareness of and demand for marriage customs among people in Taipei, and the main research findings are as follows:

    I. Current State of the Cognitive Awareness of and Demand for Marriage Customs Among People in Taipei
    1. The overall awareness of the importance of marriage customs among people in Taipei tends to be at a medium to high level, with the “family management” of marriage customs ranking highest and the “wedding ceremony”ranking lowest.
    2. The overall “cognitive awareness of the demand for marriage customs” among people in Taipei tends to be at a medium to high level, with the “family management” of marriage customs ranking highest and the “wedding ceremony” ranking lowest.
II. Differences in the Cognitive Awareness of the Importance of Marriage Customs Among People in Taipei Based on Different Personal Background Factors
The cognitive awareness of the importance of marriage customs among people in Taipei varies significantly based on factors such as gender, age, marital status, intention to marry, wedding expenses, banquet format, wedding ceremonies, and parental marital harmony.
III. Differences in the Cognitive Awareness of the Demand for Marriage Customs Among People in Taipei Based on Different Personal Background Factors
The cognitive awareness of the demand for marriage customs among people in Taipei varies significantly based on factors such as gender, age, intention to marry, wedding expenses, banquet style, wedding ceremonies, parental marital harmony, and family conflicts.
IV. Correlation between Cognitive Awareness of the Importance of Marriage Customs and Cognitive Awareness of the Demand for Marriage Customs Among People in Taipei

The overall “cognitive awareness of marriage customs” and the overall “cognitive awareness of demand for marriage customs” among people in Taipei are significantly and positively correlated.
    V. Significant Predictive Power of Cognitive Awareness of the Importance of Marriage Customs on the Cognitive Awareness of the Demand for Marriage Customs Among People in Taipei
The cognitive awareness of six dimensions, including engagement ceremony, wedding ceremony, wedding preparation, elderly participation, family background, and family management, accounts for 74% of the overall predictive power for the “cognitive awareness of the demand for marriage customs” among people in Taipei. This indicates that the higher the cognitive awareness of the importance of marriage customs among people in Taipei, the higher their cognitive awareness of the demand for such customs.
Based on the research findings and conclusions, it is recommended that people in Taipei engage in pre-marital education and family education courses. Pre-marital education courses can help individuals understand the meaning of marriage, articulate their personal marriage visions, and learn how to acquire relevant resources to solve problems, thereby enhancing their ability to manage marital life. Family education courses can improve various educational activities between family members and promote the foundation for future family happiness. Additionally, in terms of recommendations for wedding consultant businesses, apart from providing professional advice and opinions on wedding customs and ceremonies, they can offer marriage-related counseling courses. These courses can help individuals understand and accept their own and their partner's strengths and weaknesses, cultivate independence and trust, foster understanding, mutual assistance, and cherish relationships, ensuring harmonious marital lives for future couples. Furthermore, recommendations for government-related entities include supporting the development of the marriage customs industry, encouraging innovation and improving service levels, strengthening the establishment and enforcement of laws and regulations, and providing resources and guidance related to marriage customs, including promoting the dissemination of marriage customs knowledge and industry information transparency to enhance consumer education.
