This study aims to investigate the influence of play project on autistic children’s social interactions. Adopting a single-subject “One-group the time-series designs” A-B-A-A’ that belongs to “One-group pretest-posttest-procrastinate test”. This study selects four autistic children aged 62-66 months. The play intervention program was conducted 90 minutes per time, three times per week for ten weeks with five times pretest, and five times posttest followed by five times procrastinate test one month later. The outcome of social interactions including gaze, wating for rotation and cooperation, after pretest, posttest and procrastinate were quantified. All processes were video recording and using feedback questionnaire.
Major consequences of this study are as follows:
1. The frequency and duration of gaze is increasing obviously after the play project was conducted.
2. The number of waitng for rotation is increasing.
3. The frequency of cooperation also improved as well.
Finally, the research finds the ability of social interaction, understanding the meaning of words and language expression are enhanced.
This study provides some recommendations for future teaching and research of play project.
