In recent years, environmental protection (E), social responsibility (S), and corporate governance (G) have become increasingly important to the development of global industries. Consequently, enterprises should seek to maximize their profitability and consider sustainable management. The primary objective of this study is to examine the influence of environmental, social, and corporate governance (ESG) factors on the performance of semiconductor industries in five Asian countries, including Taiwan, China, Singapore, Japan, and South Korea, in the context of the global pandemic. Consequently, this study employs the Tobit regression model with panel data from 2013 to 2022. The objective is to investigate the impact of ESG on business performance and to analyze the effects of the interaction between the COVID-19 pandemic and ESG on business performance. The empirical results indicate that environmental protection (E) is found to have a positive, insignificant relationship on firm performance, social responsibility (S) is found to have a positive, significant relationship on firm performance, and corporate governance (G) is found to have a negative, insignificant relationship on firm performance. However, regardless of environmental protection (E), social responsibility (S), or corporate governance (G), none of them is found to have a positive effect on firm performance during the epidemic. The analysis indicates that the COVID-19 pandemic positively and significantly affects firm performance.
