The purpose of this study is to examine the bias of television news reports towards different political parties during the 2022 Taipei mayoral election. By means of content analysis, this study selected fifteen days of news reports from each of the two television stations, CTI and SET, during the one-month period before the election. The results of this study show that during this period of time, both TV stations had political party bias behaviors when reporting news related to the Taipei mayoral election. Specifically, CTI's coverage tended to support KMT candidate Chiang Wan-An, while SET TV showed a preference for DPP candidate Chen Shi-Chung. In addition, the study also found that unaffiliated candidate Huang Shan-Shan did not receive any special bias in the coverage of the two news channels. This finding points to the problem of media bias in Taiwan's election news coverage, and that such bias may affect public perceptions of candidates and election outcomes. The results of this study are important for understanding how the media in Taiwan shape political messages during elections and alert the public and policy makers to the perception of media bias and its possible effects.
