This study aims to delve into the psychological processes of adults reflecting on their experiences of school bullying during childhood and its impact on their resilience through qualitative research methods. The research is primarily based on Agnew's (2014) Social Concern Theory, exploring how social support and emotional care contribute to victims' recovery from the shadows of bullying and the development of positive coping mechanisms in the process.
Through in-depth interviews with five adults who have experienced school bullying, this research reveals the complex emotional responses of victims when facing school bullying, including anger, sadness, and self-blame. However, with adequate social support—such as understanding from family members, care and support from friends, and guidance from professional counseling, victims can gradually rebuild their sense of self-worth, develop resilience to adversity, and formulate positive coping strategies. Moreover, through case analysis, this study further confirms the significance of Agnew's social concern theory in the psychological recovery process of school bullying victims, especially the positive role of social concern in alleviating victims' psychological stress and enhancing their psychological resilience.
The research results highlight the power of social care, indicating that in the recovery process of victims, social support not only helps alleviate psychological trauma but also encourages victims to develop empathy and a sense of social responsibility that transcends their personal experiences. Additionally, this study finds that Agnew's social concern theory provides an important theoretical perspective in explaining how victims reconstruct their life and value perspectives through social interactions and relationships.
Based on these findings, this study offers targeted suggestions for educational institutions, families, and society, emphasizing the importance of preventing school bullying and advocating for the establishment of a more comprehensive social support system to promote victims' psychological recovery and social integration. Lastly, the study acknowledges its limitations, such as the scope of the sample and the depth of the interviews, and suggests that future research should expand the interview scope, deepen the interview content, and consider the diversity of victims' resilience across different cultural backgrounds to obtain more rich and comprehensive research results. |
