Plastic pollution has become one of the major global environmental challenges. As a ma-jor producer and consumer of plastics, Taiwan is no exception, facing severe plastic waste management issues. The goal is to eliminate waste at the source and maximize resource utili-zation.
In plastic injection molding factories, the zero-waste production model is seen as an ef-fective solution. This model aims to minimize waste generation through process design opti-mization, refined production management, and waste resource utilization. It also seeks to re-cycle unavoidable waste, truly achieving the goal of "zero waste".
This study focuses on plastic injection molding factories in Taiwan, exploring the practi-cal application of the zero-waste production model. The research first analyzes the current waste generation situation in Taiwan's plastic injection molding factories, revealing that there is still significant room for improvement in resource utilization efficiency in this industry. The study constructs a theoretical framework for the zero-waste production model, elucidating its implementation path throughout the production lifecycle.
To gain a deeper understanding of companies' practices in implementing the zero-waste model, the research finds that many enterprises have effectively reduced raw material waste through a series of measures. These include introducing automated production equipment, re-fined production management, and recycling systems. They have comprehensively recycled
and reused trimmings and defective products generated during the production process, signif-icantly improving resource utilization efficiency.
At the same time, the study also identifies difficulties and challenges faced by some com-panies in implementing the zero-waste production model. These include a lack of mature re-cycling technologies, inconsistent quality of recycled materials, and insufficient environmen-tal awareness among employees. The study proposes corresponding countermeasures to ad-dress these issues.
The zero-waste production model not only helps plastic injection companies reduce pro-duction costs and improve operational efficiency but also contributes to environmental protec-tion and sustainable development. As public environmental awareness continues to increase, the zero-waste production model will undoubtedly be widely promoted and applied in the plastics industry and the entire manufacturing sector, injecting new momentum into building a resource-conserving and environmentally friendly society. |
