Abstract
The purpose of this study was to explore the relationship among professional helper career calling, grit, and career satisfaction, as well as investigating the mediating effect of grit on the relationship between calling and career satisfaction. The study employed the “Adult-Calling Scale”, “Traditional Chinese version of Grit Scale “ , “Career Satisfaction Scale” as research tools, and conducts a questionnaire survey through online convenient sampling. The study had a total of 207 valid samples. The data was analyzed by Descriptive statistics, ANOVA, Pearson product-moment correlation and Haye's PROCESS mediation model 4 test with SPSS 23. The research results are as follows:
1. Professional helpers have higher scores on career calling, grit and career satisfaction.
2. The career calling of professional helpers was significantly positively correlated with career satisfaction.
3. The career calling of professional helpers was significantly positively correlated with grit and perseverance of effort;The career calling was not significantly correlated with grit and consistency of interest.
4. The grit and perseverance of effort of professional helpers was significantly positively correlated with career satisfaction;The grit and consistency of interest of professional helpers was significantly positively correlated with career satisfaction.
5. The grit and perseverance of effort had partially mediation effect between career calling of interests and passions, life meaning, altruism, transcendent summons and career satisfaction;The grit and consistency of interest no mediating effect between career calling and career satisfaction.
Finally, this study puts forwar suggestions for professional helpers and future related research based on the data analysis results.
