Bat speed and Exit velocity are critical factors for baseball hitters. The landmine is a functional power training equipment; however, and it still lacks the relevant literature concerning how to adopt the landmine to train baseball players power. Purpose: This study investigated the effects of 6-week landmine explosive training on improving baseball players' bat speed, rotational acceleration, time to contact, exit velocity, swing power, and peak hand speed. Method: 24 collegiate baseball players recruited to participate in the research (Age: 20.25 ± 1.52 years, Height: 176.87 ± 6.40 cm, Weight: 74.25 ± 8.00 kg) were randomly and evenly divided into the rotational landmine training (RLT) and control group (CG) based on the exit speed. A 6-week rotational power training intervention was conducted; meanwhile, the mid- and post-tests were conducted in the 4th and 7th weeks. Two-way ANOVA, mixed design analyze the pre, mid, and post variables variation in bat speed , rotational acceleration, time to contact, exit velocity, swing power and peak hand speed between two groups. Pearson's correlation product difference compared the correlation among all the variables. The level of significant difference was set at α = .05. Results: RLT presented a significantly higher bat swing speed and peak hand speed compared to the CG (p < .05). Furthermore, the RLT showed significant improvements in bat swing speed, rotational acceleration, swing time, exit ball velocity, swing power, and peak wrist speed (p < .05). Conclusion: A 6-week rotational landmine power training may enhance the bat speed, rotational acceleration, time to contact, exit velocity, swing power and peak hand speed for baseball athletes. |
