Abstract: This study investigates how the three dimensions of CSR construct (environmental, social, and governance pillars) individually affect firm performance (FP), which is characterized into innovation performance (IP) and business performance (BP), and the moderating role of power distance (PD) on the relationships between the dimensions and IP, BP. Our findings, based on a sample of 116 multinational enterprises (MNEs) from 2013 to 2018, suggest that not all CSR dimensions are equally important for MNE performance. Besides, the results reveal those one of three indicators of CSR, the environmental pillar has negative impacts on the IP and BP of technology MNEs. We further found PD to significantly moderate the relationships between the environmental pillar and both IP and BP. The implications for research and practice are discussed.
