This study investigated the job stress and coping strategies of fitness coaches during the period of the COVID-19 epidemic in Taiwan. Fitness coaches in Taipei City and New Taipei City were surveyed using the Occupational Stress Index as the measurement instruments. The results of the independent t-test, one-way analysis of variance, and Pearson correlation analysis showed that there were significant differences among fitness coaches in four dimensions of work stress: workload, organizational atmosphere, work chores, and interpersonal relationships depending on age, teaching experience, and monthly income; in terms of coping strategies, only significant differences were found among fitness coaches with different monthly income in the dimension of supportive response. No significant relationship was found between job stress and coping strategies. Summarizing the above results, it is evident that during the period of COVID-19 epidemic, the younger, less teaching experience and lower income trainers felt higher pressure in terms of interpersonal relationships, workload, work chores and organizational atmosphere. In addition, the preference of controlling or supportive coping strategy application was not observed within these fitness trainers.
