This research project aims at discussing the “usage of grammatical features by pro-Japanese scholars” during the Korean enlightenment period. The enlightenment period is the bridge that links the past to the modern period, many major developments in Korean economy, politics, society, education, and languages begun during this period. Most Korean scholars in this period have the same characteristics: they all had experience in studying abroad in either the US or Japan. Many of them returned to Korea because Korea had undergone a drastic change at that time, and they had built important foundation on Korean grammar studies.
