Tenzin Tsundue’s Kora stories and poems is a book with a variety of genres and diverse nature of writings in Kora, a culture ritual and circumabulation as Tibetan pilgrimage. The collection centers around the plight of Tibetans in exile, the missing of homeland, the longing of returning home and establishing a self-governing land, a totally free Tibet. “Kora” as illustrated in the name of the featured short story, and as justified in the title of the whole book, manifests that the concept of kora is essential to understand the meaning of the whole book, and to reach Tenzin Tsundue’s thoughts of Tibetan diaspora. My thesis will focus on and analyze the continuity of cultural tradition and identity in the face of displacement for the exiled Tibetans in the writings of Tenzin Tsundue. First, by understanding the concept of Kora in different aspects on Tibetan religious culture, philosophy of life, and social relations, I will discuss how kora is applied in the stories and poems of Tsundue. The titled story illustrates how the younger generation finds its own way by understanding and reconciliation with the older generation by covering another famous fly allogory in Tibetan Buddhism as a metaphor echoing each other. Finally, by analying two poems, the readers are expected to see how the Tibetan in exile can break through the stateless in an uncertainty, hybridity, de-centered situation. Meanwhile, by the transformation of the sacred center, sacred source of life from original cultural meaning is to be merged into Tibetan spirit, as the identity to keep cultural continuity, which is a broad way for the future generation of exiled Tibetan scattering in the whole world.
