本劇《白頭吟》係以《西京雜記》中記〈白頭吟〉一事,作為編劇構想底線,依照其中原有架構出發,另行增加想像空間,並試圖加入對整起事件的另一種解讀,其中司馬相如及卓文君二人遠隔南北,司馬相如因官位限制不得攜帶家眷隨行,兩人幾乎以書信往來聯繫情感,都以文采著稱的兩人,在舊有的文學資料中也發現以二人口吻所做情詩,就連司馬相如欲娶茂陵人女為妾,雙方都未直言溝通,僅以謎猜及詩句對談,雖然充滿對浪漫的才子佳人幻想,一方面也懷疑這種維持婚姻關係的可行性,因此在舊有的〈白頭吟〉相關資料中放入「誤讀」的元素,縱然兩人仍以白頭終老,於情感上卻幾度變質,雖取司馬相如及卓文君舊事,但實則探討感情的變化及轉折。
The "Baitou Yin " mentioned in " Xi Jing Za Ji" is the basic dramatic structure in this drama. According to the original structure, we not only increase the room for imagination but also attempt to let people be read on the other hand. It was the long-distance relationship between Zhuo Wenjun and Sima Xiangru who couldn’t live with his family caused the limit of the political status, so they connected each other almost by letters. Both of them were good at literary talent, thus we found out some love letters written as their tones in the old literature. Even though Sima Xiangru wanted to marry a concubine who was a Maoling woman, they didn’t have the direct communication. Although it is full with fantasy of the romantic couple, we suspect the practicality of the way which used riddles and conversations in the poems could stay their married life. Therefore, we put some ‘misunderstanding’ elements in the related information of the old "Baitou Yin. " Their emotion had been gone off despite of the fact that they were together for ever. However, we actually discuss about the changes and the turning points in this play which is from the old things between Zhuo Wenjun and Sima Xiangru.
