Automation allows machines to perform tasks that are previously performed by workers. The artificial intelligence is the latest form of automation. Automation may be a threat to employment of workers and be even a shock to employment of workers. In this project, we attempt to develop a monetary Schumpeterian growth model with endogenous automation and analyze some questions. First, we explore how the monetary policy influences economic growth through a cycle of automation an innovation. We also attempt to discuss whether inflation has inverted-U effects on economic growth. Moreover, we explore whether economic growth has a non-monotonic relationship with financial frictions. Finally, we also attempt to discuss that welfare effect of inflation and examine whether the Friedman rule holds.
