Even after the end of the War more than 70 years, the solution of the problems about the Japanese army requisitioned Korean labor, comfort women during the Second World War, and other post-war compensation lawsuits issues have to return to “Treaty on Basic Relations between Japan and Korea” of 1965? They are or not by this Treaty, problems in regard to property and claims between Japan and Korea have been settled completely and finally. It seems that the dispute still existed. As for Taiwan, which was once a colony, had to return to the “Taipei Peace Treaty” signed in 1952, or any negotiation since the Japan-ROC diplomatic relations severed in 1972. The legal boundaries also involved in the post-war processing of the East Asian and historical reconciliation. The purpose of this study is to make Taiwan to reposition itself on the issue of "historical reconciliation" by comparing post-war processing between Japan-Taiwan and Japan-Korea. The research aims on the Taiwanese imperial Japan soldier and the reparation. Using the original materials of the Japan National Assembly, oral materials, newspapers, and personal memoirs, the claims of these Japanese soldiers were discussed and the attitude of Japanese government, political parties thoughts and responded to the post-war compensation. Secondly, it discusses the reconstruction of historical memory of each country and extends to the common aspect and different aspect in the historical memory of the three countries, Taiwan, Japan and Korea. The significance of this study is to propose a perspective that is beneficial to East Asia's "historical reconciliation". At present, there is no in-depth research paper on the comparative study of Taiwan and South Korea about the post-war processing. Therefore, the project would complete two thematic studies on a two-year basis: (1) Taiwan's "Historical reconciliation" - Taiwanese Imperial Japan Servicemen Post-war reparations and historical memory of war. (2) "Historical reconciliation" between Korea and Japan - the post-war processing of Korean Japan Servicemen and the historical memory of war. The study initiates a comparative study of the literature analysis, and gives an interpretation by exploring the archives to reconstruct the history, to clarify the current situation, and to know the former Imperial Japan Servicemen, and Japan's post-war reparation in Taiwan and South Korea. |
