動機-近幾年來尋求國內外到少林寺習武的人潮與日遽增，在寒暑假由武僧在少林寺辦理少林文化相關營隊，各界媒體採訪，深深吸引著大批人潮朝聖，少林武術能夠傳承千年有其魅力所在。背景-少林寺因1982年李連杰主演電影少林寺而聞名世界，2011年改版新少林寺上映，在民間又渲起了一段時間的習武風潮，民間也開始出現運動員仿冒武僧在民間藉少林寺之名開設武館及武術學校謀取利益，引發為研究少林武僧的養成及經歷背景探討武僧的形塑過程。研究方法-研究對象以嵩山少林寺少林武僧團成員，透過訪談五位武僧團成員、二位前武僧團成員及文獻收集為主要方法，並藉由訪談及文化背景了解武僧形塑與時代意義。結論-武僧的形塑代表著時代的意義，從一而終不變的就是為了保護寺廟，為了效忠國家而存在著，現代人或許是受到電影、視頻之影響，透過影視接觸到功夫、武術，起了嚮往的心，但仔細接觸，親身體驗並經歷，慢慢的習武不再是對影視裡敬仰，而是真正進入的自身生活裡，體悟到人生許多無法輕易體悟之道理。現代年輕武僧積極推廣少林文化至全世界，並在世界各地設立少林功夫文化中心教授少林功夫及少林文化，使少林文化得以永續發展及發揚。
