本研究利用種族與階級的概念透過臺灣目前最受歡迎的運動-壘球為媒介,討論其中的原漢球員間內部的關係。原住民球員在臺灣棒球比賽中大放異彩的同時,配合媒體包裝或是國家教育等再現媒介的循環下,「原住民族群賦有運動細胞」的刻板印象或型態於焉成型,原住民逐漸與賦有運動細胞的特性畫上了等號,然而運動在於原漢族群來說是否有不平等的情況產生?是這次研究中主要的問題意識。原漢的相處模式都會在不自覺中受到漢人刻板印象造成不平等的待遇。本研究先利用文獻分析的部分探討種族與運動、階級與運動等相關文獻對於原住民族群的影響,再以Bourdieu的理論用經濟資本、文化資本與社會資本的理論,檢視臺灣社會對於原住民在階級和運動場域受限情況。運用問卷、半結構訪談方式及實地觀察法,分析出桃園市原住民族壘球參與者資本與場域間之關係後,從中得知原漢的場域中,時常因刻板印象導致原住民球員處於劣勢,形成摩擦進而使原住民球員會尋求屬於個人資本吻合的場域(原住民球隊)。
