做為民間故事的一種，「笑話」不僅保留生活中所發生的趣味，更突顯了誇張可笑的成分，以達到娛樂的效果。本文以「懶人掛餅」故事為主題，首先是構成懶人偷懶的原因，與漢民族文化下的家庭結構有密切關聯，也使得這類故事較難見於歐美各國。其次，對於故事主角性別的轉換，「懶妻」的形成和夫妻在漢民族文化裡的婚姻關係有關，最後再針對此故事裡的不合理處加以討論。
