摘要: | 本計畫擬譯注的經典為克里巴德(Herbart M. Kliebard, 1930-2015)所著「《美國中小學課程競 逐史(1893-1958)》」第三版(The struggle for the American curriculum, 1893-1958, 3rd ed., 2004)(簡 稱《競逐》)。無論在美國或包括臺灣在內的中文世界,本書都是教育學門公認的經典之作。科技部 的前身國科會,曾將其列在103 年度人文及社會科學經典譯注計畫的推薦書單上,即為明證。 本計畫書除以本書可(一)增進讀者對於1893-1958 年間美國中小學課程歷史的特質之理解,(二) 充實讀者對於1893-1958 年間美國中小學課程理論與實務的認識,以及(三)藉以提醒教育史及課程 學者多加重視中小學課程歷史的研究等三點,說明本書譯注為中文的價值之外,並自本書作者的生平 與重要著述、本書成書緣由、由三個版次的〈序言〉看本書的主旨以及內容的調增、本書大要、本書 接受引用及評論情況分析,以及重要文獻評述等,更進一步介紹《競逐》一書的有關事項,俾便確認 譯注的必要性。 本計畫擬以三年(2017/08/01-2020/07/31)時間完成。因為本申請書已就《競逐》一書的作者、 重要內容及所接受的評論等情況作了概略的敘述,所以,在此一基礎之上,本計畫應能剋期完成《競 逐》一書之譯注,以及一篇學術導讀之撰作。在這篇導讀之中,會將本書的內容作一批判式的介紹, 並且就其為包括中文世界在內的課程史研究所帶來的意義與價值,作一番詮釋式的論述。本計畫所完 成的譯注與學術導讀,合計約40 至45 萬字。
The classic book to be translated and annotated is The struggle for the American curriculum, 1893-1958, 3rd ed., published by Herbart M. Kliebard (1930-2015) in 2004. It is a generally recognized classic in education discipline both in the United States and Chinese world including Taiwan. That it was on the “2014 list of recommended classics-Education” promulgated by the National Science Council, the former name of Ministry of Science and Technology, is a clear proof. In this proposal, the significance of the annotated translation of the book was explained in three points, firstly, it will enhance readers' understanding of history of curriculum from 1893 to1958 in the States, secondly, it will enrich readers' knowledge of theory and practice in those years in the States, and thirdly, it will remind academics in history of education and curriculum fields to do more research in history of curriculum. Then, a brief account of the author's life and a list of his selected works, the reasons of writing the book, a brief description of the main goals of the book by reviewing the preface of its three editions, an epitome of each chapter of the book, an analysis of the reception of the book, and a review of selected related literature were provided to reconfirm the necessity of the annotated translation of the book. The project is scheduled to be executed in three years, from 2017/08/01 to 2020/07/31. In this proposal, as mentioned in the last paragraph, the author, contents, and reviews and criticisms received were initially surveyed. On the basis of the above preliminary work, an annotated translation of Kliebard’s The struggle for the American curriculum, 1893-1958 (3rd ed.) with a critical introduction for the book will be due to the Ministry of Science and Technology following the schedule. In this critical introduction, a scholarly written commentary of the book and an interpretative discussion of the bearing and values brought into the research arena of history of curriculum including Chinese world will be prepared. The word count of the outcome of this project will be around 400,000 to 450,000 traditional Chinese in total. |
