The eutectic and liquidus temperatures for water + sodium bromide and water + sodium carbonate binary systems were measured in this study using differential scanning calorimeter (DSC).The liquidus temperatures as functions of component composition are found to be in good agreement with some available literature data. Eutectic temperatures for water + sodium bromide and water +sodium carbonate binary mixtures are determined in this study as 244.8 and 270.6K, respectively. The method of fractional transformation curve was applied to confirm the eutectic compositions. The eutectic compositions for water + sodium bromide and water + sodium carbonate binary systems are 39.7 wt% NaBr and 5.7wt% Na2CO3, respectively. The heat capacity data for eutectic binary mixtures in their solid states were also measured using DSC.
