本試驗目的為測量圈養山羌與野外山羌之消化道長度，並且於不同時間內紀錄臺北市立動物園山羌之體重，藉以瞭解臺灣山羌之消化道發育情況與消化特性。消化道樣品的來源為圈養與野外動物各三隻，測量項目包括體長、小腸與大腸(盲腸)之長度，並且比較山羌之體長與腸道之值和小腸與大腸之比值。結果顯示臺灣山羌於一歲其雄性與雌性的體重有顯著差異，而腸道為體長之13.9~15.1倍，小腸則為大腸之2.1~2.9倍。
We observed the development of intestinal tract of Formosan Reeves’ muntjac by measured the length of digestive gut and recorded the changes of body weight. They were three samples from the captive environment, and the other three from the wild. We measured the length of body length, small intestinal tract and large intestinal tract. Further more, the ratio of intestinal tract to body length and the ratio of small intestinal tract to large intestinal tract were calculated. Results revealed that the body weight of muntjac were significantly different between male and female at over 1 year old. Besides, the ratio of intestinal length to body length is approximately 13.9~15.1L1, and the ratio of small intestinal tract to large intestinal tract is aboy 2.1~2.9:1.
