Abstract: Five sesquiterpene polyol esters with b-dihydroagarofuran including 1b-acetoxy-8b,9a-dibenzoyloxy-6a-hydroxy-2b(a-methylbutanoyloxy)-b-dihydroagarofuran (1), 1b-acetoxy-8b,9a-dibenzoyloxy-4a,6a-dihydroxy-2b(a-methylbutanoyloxy)-b-dihydroagarofuran (2), 1b-acetoxy-2b,8b,9a-tribenzoyloxy-6a-hydroxy-b-dihydroagarofuran (3), 1b-acetoxy-2b,8b,9a-tribenzoyloxy-4,6a-dihydroxy-b-dihydroagarofuran (4) and celahin-D (5), as well as five triterpenes including friedelin (6), lupeol (7), lupenone (8), betulin (9) and lup-20(29)-en-3b,30-diol (10) were isolated from the EtOH extract of the stems of Celastrus punctatus. The structural determinations of compounds 1 to 10 were established on the basis of spectral analysis. Biological evaluation revealed that these compounds were not highly cytotoxic against KB, Hepa-3B, Hela and COLO-205 cancer cells.
