The purpose of this research aims to evaluate the scoring techniques utilized by elite judo players at the 2012 Summer Olympics-Judo event in order to describe the personal techniques and tactics in Judo competition for giving an insight into the most effective winning approach in future. The subjects were adopted by the elite male and female judo players in every top four weight divisions (14 weight divisions which equals to 70 games in total) at the 2012 Summer Olympics. The material of analysis is based on the videos retrieved from MOD of Chunghwa Telecom. and Interact 9 tool which documented the technique performance. The observational data was managed by using Interact 9 analysis tool and processed through the means of statistics. The results were shown as follows: Firstly, the most frequently awarded score in male and female was penalty, and then Seoi-Nage within Te-waza (hand techniques) which is the subdivision in Tachi-waza (standing techniques), Harai Goshi within the Koshi-waza (hip techniques), as well as O Soto Gari, KO Soto Gari, and Uchi Mata within Ashi-waza (foot and leg techniques). Secondly, the most effective scoring rank was Yuko, and then waza-ari, ippon, and 10 times Hantei, golden score. Moreover, the most awarded score among the techniques in male was Seoi-Nage, and then penalties, which also dominated across three weight divisions: lightweight divisions, middleweight divisions and heavyweight division. The most effective scoring rank was Yuko, and then waza-ari, ippon. The most successful means for scoring in middleweight and heavyweight division was Yuko, and waza-ari in lightweight divisions. Among the techniques, penalty was the most effective scoring and then O-Uchi-Gari and O-Soto-Gaeshi within Ashi-Waza as well as Harai-Goshi within Koshi-Waza. Penalties also dominated across lightweight and middleweight divisions; but Harai-Goshi was the most useful technique in heavyweight divisions. The most victorious approach to acquiring scores was Yuko, and then ippon, and waza-ari. Based on the results as mentioned above, it is suggested that this study can be implemented as a useful reference in practice for coaches and players to assess the effective winning methods in Judo competition. |
