Russian cult of Pushkin has gone beyond the passing of times and battles between different political parties, which have surmounted cult of any other figure in history. The versatile genius and complicated personality of Pushkin and multiple possibilities in interpreting Pushkin's works provided a solid internal cause for such cult. Meanwhile, Russia's unique religious cultural perspectives, strong patriotism and its lasting authoritarian tradition have created external condition for such cult with lasting influence.
