The purpose of this study was to discuss and understand the Chung Yuan Christian University freshmen physical fitness differences between the 2004 to 2007 school year. There were 6631 students completed the physical fitness test. One-way ANAOVA was used to test the significant difference between the ages of all the freshmen. The results of the physical fitness test would proceed with z-test with the nation-wide normative data according to the age and thereafter, to investigate for any significant differences between the Chung Yuan Christian University freshmen and the nation-wide freshmen of the same age. The results showed that there were significant differences in the standing jump and the 1600 meter run (p<.05) for male freshmen at different age; female freshmen showed significant differences in the sit-and-reach, standing jump, and 800 meter run (p<.05). There were some results showed for both the female and the male freshmen in height, weight, sit-and-reach, one minute sit-up, standing jump, and 800/1600 meter run were significant higher and lower than the nation-wide norm (p<.05). Conclusion showed: 1) younger freshmen male showed better explosive strength, but older freshmen male showed better cardiovascular fitness. Younger female freshmen had better flexibility and explosive strength, however, cardiovascular fitness was better for the older female freshmen. 2). Standing jump for the Chung Yuan Christian University male and female freshmen scored lower than the nation-wide freshmen. 3) Chung Yuan Christian University male and female freshmen were significantly better in the 1 minute sit-up, 800 and 1600 meter run then the nation-wide freshmen.
