After examining the objectives and functions of summer camp, the purpose of this study was to explain the value of the summer camp based on Roger Caillois' theory of play. From the analysis of New Jersey YMHA CAMPS, the study found that team activities, from structural perspective, have a great influence on all aspects of Caillois' theory. Meanwhile, the value of the summer camp is to provide human beings with a platform in which participants can pursue the nature of self-growth and self-development. Even away from summer camp, people will duplicate the aforementioned platform of play in their life.
