Selvage/filament ply yarn was formed into fabrics and its versatility for applications was evaluated by mechanical testing. The ply yarn, composed of polypropylene nonwoven selvage and polyester filament, was produced by a unique rotor-wrapping-twister machine and was woven or knitted into, fabrics. Process parameters were examined to determine the most suitable fabric structure, temperature and curing time for an economical laminate procedure. The ply yarn demonstrated good mechanical properties, particularly tensile and bursting strength.
