本試驗旨在探討切除尾脂腺對土番鴨血液血球相及血清生化值之影響。選取體重相近之6週齡土番鴨24隻,逢機分配於2處理組(對照組及切除尾脂腺組),每個處理組有12隻,公母各半,切除尾脂腺組於6週齡時以手術摘除尾脂腺。二個處理組鴨隻均於7、8及9週齡採血,水與飼料採任飲食,試驗期為4週。試驗結果顯示,切除尾脂腺會影響7-9週齡鴨隻紅血球相之血紅素與平均紅血球血紅素濃度、血清磷、總膽固醇與氯離子濃度,試驗土番鴨之血清三酸甘油酯濃度受週齡增加而下降,血清氯、鎂、鈉、鈣離子濃度亦有週齡之變化,惟仍在鳥禽正常值範圍;然而切除尾脂腺對土番鴨白血球總數、白血球分類百分比值及異嗜球/淋巴球(H/L)比值則無顯著影響。血液H/L之比值可作為鳥禽緊迫反應之指標,故推測本試驗摘除尾脂腺對鴨隻並未造成太大程度的緊迫。
The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of uropygial gland removal on the blood pictures, serum biochemistry, and electrolytes in mule ducklings at the growing period. Twenty four 6-week-old duckling with similar body weight were randomly assigned into a control (no operation) and treatment (i.e. both sides uropygial gland removed; BUGR). Each group had twelve ducklings with equal number of male and female birds. The experiment lasted for 4 weeks and feed were ad libitum. At 7, 8 and 9 weeks of age, sera samples were analyzed for blood pictures, serum total cholesterol, triglyceride and electrolyte concentrations. The results indicated that the operation of both side uropygial gland removed affect hemoglobin and MCHC, and sera phosphorus, total cholesterol, chloride concentrations in mule ducklings during 7-9 weeks of age. The experimental birds has the highest sera triglyceride concentration at 7 weeks of age; Age affect the birds in sera calcium, magnesium, sodium and chloride concentration; nevertheless those values were in normal range. The operation of both uropygial gland removal did not affect total white blood cell and its differential counts ratio, and heterophils/lymphocytes (H/L) ratio H/L ratio in bird. Based on H/L ratio as a stress indicator for animals, therefore it suggested that BUGR ducklings were not in stress condition during 7-9 weeks of age.
