Abstract: Background: The importance of developing good conditioning programs based on the specific physiological demands of each sport. The effectiveness of short-term training programs on the athletic performance of adolescent athletes and non-athletes the effects of specific basketball training interventions still remain unknown. Thus, the improvement of the physical and technical abilities of young basketball players during the off-season period is based more on the empirical knowledge, intuition and personal preferences of the coaches than on research data. Purpose: This study was to assess physiological responses of different types of physical conditioning by BMI, HR, RPE and VO2max. Methods: Eighteen men basketball players in Chinese Culture University were randomly divided into two groups, specific interval shuttle training group (SISTG) (N=9) and repeated endurance training group (RETG) (N=8). Subjects participated in 6 weeks training, 3 times per week. Physiological parameters including BMI, HR, RPE and VO2max were measured prior and post training. Results: There was significant difference between pre VO2max and post VO2max in SISTG, and there was significant difference between SISTG and RETG in post VO2max. SISTG were increased approximately 7 ml/kg/min with showing significant difference (P <.05). RETG were decrease approximately 1 ml/kg/min without significant difference (P >.05). As the result, SISTG are increase in VO2max and RETG are decrease tendency slightly in VO2max. Conclusion: Based on the date analysis, the findings can be useful information and applied to basketball coaches.
