Today, in the 21st century, networks have become parts of our daily lives. Increasing complexity of network makes the network management more and more important. Also network administrators rely heavily on the network management systems.
Traditional client-server network management systems use central managed computers as management stations. In a large-scale network environment, this is not only lacking of flexibility and efficiency, but also consuming lots of network resources, and also increasing the network flows a lot. This will not meet the requirement of future networks.
This research, based on the mobile agent model proposed by Gavalas, sets up a network management model using mobile agents as media conveying network management information. The model offers the automated server performance balancing and simple management interfaces for public management usage. The model combines QOS (quality of service) to achieve the goal of bandwidth control.
