Abstract: The rapid growth of economy in China brought expansion of industries and urban-ization to China. As a result of the urbanization and industrialization in China, the de-mand for basic metals in China has grown very fast in the past decade. One of the most important metals for these activities is copper alloys. According to these previous studies, the import demand for steel is affected by the real exchange rate and domestic pro-duction of steel. But whether the previous results of steel can be applied to copper alloys still remains an important issue.Unit-root tests, cointegration tests, and vector error correction models (VECM) are used in this study to evaluate the influence of the do-mestic production of copper alloys in China and the real exchange rate on the amount of imported copper alloys in China. This study provides a suitable model for predicting the import volume of China’s copper alloys. The evidence of China’s imports of copper al-loys is very important to the importers and exporters in the copper industry in the world.
