Cloud computing is a consequence of economic, commercial, cultural and technological conditions that have combined to cause a disruptive shift in the IT industry towards a service-based economy. It is a style of computing where massively scalable IT-enabled capabilities are provided as a service over the network and give rise to the "As a Service" business. The evolution of Cloud computing can handle massive data as per on demand service. Supporting this transition is a range of technologies from clustering to virtualization. This study presents an expanded delivery services model of Cloud computing for enterprise and business. The characteristics and the challenges of Cloud computing are analyzed and discussed. The offerings from some Cloud service providers are also outlined.
