It would be a great help to the success of translation teaching if the instructor had a better understanding of students' strength as well as their weakness in translation. The examples of both satisfactory and less satisfactory translations have been chosen from the works by the juniors majoring in English literature at the Chinese Culture University in the academic years 2001-2002 and 2002-2003 to serve as a peek-hole for people to have a glimpse of the whole picture.
