Title: Globalization and the Teaching of English in China
    Authors: Lan-lin Zhang
    Contributors: 中國文化大學
    Date: 2003-05-01
    Issue Date: 2012-05-09 11:37:25 (UTC+8)
Abstract: In today's increasingly globalized world, English has become the unrivaled lingua franca of the world. In our age of globalization, Fishman's remark that "the sun never sets on the English language" rings truer than ever. This article explores the spread of English in China as part of the globalization and the concurrent issues that go with it from the perspective of international education. The author argues that if China were to prosper in the globalization age, English education will have to reform so that learners can use the language in a more authentic way.
