    Abstract: 在中國文化大學教大型班級的老師,都了解大班教學有以下的困難:管理、紀律、適當的教材以及學習動機之激發。在傳統權威角色裡的老師,也許較少面臨到這些難題,因為他們可藉教科書中許多重覆和練習活動來控制學生。但這些活動是否能充分激發學生學習語言的興趣,卻令人懷疑。這篇論文的主題是溝通性(日常會話)語言教學,及其在大型班級中的運用。這篇論文的目的在於介紹讀者溝通性語言教學的方法,並且對如何能使教室活動及教科書更具溝通性做幾項建議,使學生語言的學習過程能更受裨益。

    Those of us teaching at the Chinese Culture University's Language Center know the difficulties of teaching large classes. Problems arise as far as management, discipline, adequate materials and motivation. An instructor operating in the traditionally strong teacher role may face fewer of these difficulties by controlling the class with the reptition and drill activities that are so common to many textbooks. However, it is questionable whether or not students are motivated enough by these teacher-centered activities to learn the target language well. The topic of this paper, then, is Communicative Language Teaching and how this can be applied to the large classroom. This paper will introduce readers to the method of communicative language teaching and give suggestions as to how instructors can make their textbook and classroom activities more communicative-all to the benefit of their students' language processes.
