This paper first examines the varied aspects of an ESL/EFL textbook, and then designs an eight-question questionnaire administered to freshmen and sophomore students taking English laboratory courses at Chinese Culture University to solicit their views concerning the textbooks they were using, New Wave 2 and New Wave 3 respectively. The results of this investigation will provide a significant reference for the teachers at the Language Center of the Chinese Culture University should they choose to select a suitable textbook for their future classes.
