This study mainly explores the relationships among place attachment, perceived service quality of the institute, life adjustment and need dissatisfication for the elders living in the nursing institute in the New Taipei City. The sample includes 153 aging people selected from 6 institutes by using cluster sampling technique. The measuring tools include demographic questionnaire, place attachment scale, service quality scale, life adjustment scale and need dissatisfication scale. The data analyses use descriptive statistics, Student t test, one-way analysis of variance, Pearson’s correlation, stepwise regression and path analysis.
The findings are:
1. There exists in the high score in the scales of place attachment, perceived service quality of the institute, life adjustment and need dissatisfication.
2. There are mostly not significant differences existed in the scale of place attachment among the demographic variables except sex and child number.
3. There are mostly not significant differences existed in the scale of perceived service quality of the institute, life adjustment and need dissatisfaction among the demographic variables except marital status indicating the widowed are higher than the married.
4. There are positive correlation existed among perceived service quality, life adjustment and the motivator subscale of the need dissatisfaction; however, there are negative correlation existed among perceived service quality, life adjustment and the hygiene subscale of the need dissatisfaction.
5. Perceived service quality can highly predict life adjustment for the elders living in the nursing institute and perceived service quality and life adjustment can highly predict need dissatisfaction for the elders living in the nursing institute.
Finally the suggestions were proposed for the institution management and further study.
