本文跳脫傳統式文學的及哲學的研究途徑,改而以新興學科「社會生物學」(sociobiology)以檢視孔子的人性論與天道論,並間接否定子貢所云「夫子之文章,可得而聞也;夫子之言性與天道,不可得而聞也」(論語•公冶長),應屬有誤。從孔子的言論與行爲,可以證明孔子是有神論者,但他在有神論的基礎上,可貴地發展出淡化人格神信仰的主張,不像比他稍晚的墨子一般陷溺於宗教迷信之中。本文並提出八點,就其天道論予以評價。其次,「論語」中有數章可以代表孔子的人性論觀點,本文亦提出十點觀察,予以評論。最後綜合出六點結論,論其功過得失。
This essay skip over traditional approaches such as literary or philosophical ones, and the author use a brand new subject "sociobiology" to study Confucius' theories about human nature and supernatural, therefore we can deny that what his disciple Tze-Kung saying is wrong, he said that "It is possible to hear to the literature of the Master, but it is impossible to hear his teaching about human nature and supernatural!" According to Confucius' teaching and his own behavior, we can prove that Confucius was a theist. Quite fortunately, Confucius developed his theories from a viewpoint of lightened belief on anthropoid god, not the same as the religious indulgence of Motze who born a little than him. Beyond that analysis, the author also offers eight commentaries about Confucius' theories of supernatural. Secondly, there are several chapters in the Dialect that can represent Confucius' ideas about human nature, the author also put forward ten commentaries about that. At the end, there are six conclusions were synthesized to criticize the merits and faults of the Master Confucius.
