    題名: 前瞻性數位典藏技術之開發與系統建構

    摘要: 本計劃之目的為配合數位典藏與數位學習國家型科技計畫(Taiwan e-Learning and Digital Archives Program, TELDAP)建立技術具主體性、研發具未來性之垂直整合數位典藏技術,結合國內高教不同校園中色彩與影像研究之專才,投入開發具有前瞻性之尖端數位典藏技術,完成以多頻譜影像技術為主,深具特色之文物數位典藏輸入、顯示與輸出技術,以提升國家數位典藏技術之實力並與國際之領先研究團隊切磋接軌。色彩管理技術是當今影像工業、多媒體印刷、物體色工業、全球供應鏈、品質管制中重要的一環,是使不同類型之影像設備(如照相機、列印機、顯示器、投影器、掃瞄器等)之擷取及顯示影像達到色彩精確複製之關鍵,而目前數位典藏工作色彩管理標準流程亦採用在歐美廣泛使用之國際色彩聯盟(ICC)系統,達到文物準確複製,永久保存及文物修復之依據。但ICC色彩管理系統僅考慮單一特定光源下保證色彩一致,不可能在一般場合中使用,另外普通生活環境如家居、商店、辦公室與室外光源特性亦截然不同,因而導致色彩的變異,所以ICC技術無法達到數位典藏之終極目的,因此歐美也興起另一多頻譜數位典藏技術之革命。本計畫即規劃開發以多頻譜為基礎之影像技術,實際典藏物件本體材質的頻譜反射率,並以頻譜對應的方式實際輸出呈現,因而可不受特定光源之限制,擷取、顯示與列印影像,進而應用於未來之數位典藏計畫。本研究包含五個分項計畫,以中國文化大學為計劃之主協調單位,分別由四所大學就研究專長分工合作執行:1. 多頻譜影像擷取系統之開發 (交通大學);2. 建立在不同照明環境下之精確顯示系統 (台灣科技大學);3. 建立在不同照明環境下之準確列印/輸出系統(世新大學/台灣科技大學);4. 精確輸入顯示與輸出之系統整合與效能驗證 (台灣科技大學/中國文化大學);5. 建構示範系統 (中國文化大學)。預計以兩年期的時程,開發多頻譜數位典藏技術,提供更為先進的數位典藏平台,以提升國家數位典藏技術之實力並擴大典藏內容的精度、廣度與深度。
    The project is proposed for the National Research Council’s Taiwan e-Learning and Digital Archives Program (TELDAP) by integrating the colour and imaging scientists from four universities in Taiwan. This project is aimed to develop the digital image archiving technology based on multispectral imaging system (MIS). It deals with image data in terms of spectral and allows for accurate image reproduction under all viewing conditions. The final project results will be able to apply to establish a technology platform for the input, display and output archiving fine art materials in all Taiwan museums. It will make Taiwan to become one of the very few countries in the field of multispectral imaging field. The overall academic level and its practice in colour and imaging science will be raised practically. Colour Management System (CMS) is mainly used to achieve cross-media colour reproduction between different types of imaging devices such as digital camera, printer, display, projector, scanner and has been widely employed in different industries such as the imaging, the surface, graphic art technology as part of the global supply chain. ICC-based CMS workflow has also been used for digital archives. This workflow is based on technology developed by the International Colour Consortium (ICC) and was mainly used for graphic art industry. It has the limitation due to it can only achieve successful colour reproduction under daylight illumination viewing condition. However, in reality, the image reproduction is performed under a variety of viewing conditions such as office, domestic and shop lightings, seldom under the daylight illumination. For museum illumination, the daylight is also not widely used. The MIS technology developed here will record each image in term of spectral data and will reproduce accurate images across all different viewing conditions. It will make all the fine art materials truthfully reproduced in all viewing conditions. This project is divided into 5 tasks. These tasks include the development of the following project components as sub-researches: 1) multispectral image capturing system – in charged by the National Chiao Tung University, 2) the system for displaying MIS data by National Taiwan University of Science and Technology, 3) the system for printing MIS data by Shih Hsin University, 4) the evaluation of the above developed systems by Chinese Culture University and National Taiwan University of Science and Technology, and 5) the project demonstration system by Chinese Culture University. After completion of the project, this will significantly improve the technical capability of digital archives in Taiwan.
